The best straighteners I have ever used have to be GHD (Good Hair Day) Straighteners. After using them in the salon setting they are not only reliable but they produce the best results. The product is becoming the best seller on the market and I can understand why. They have a range of handsets that suit all styles of hair, long, short, I have even seen them straighten the curliest of hair's. My Moms' being the curliest hair, I have seen them power through the curls, although the end result was not quite how she imagined, as having spiral natural curls for the past 35 years is all she has known. To see straight hair after all that time was too much for her and she has resorted to her curls and sometimes, she gets out her GHD straighteners that we bought her for christmas, just in case she ever wants to try the straight look again, although I have my doubts.
The range of GHD's is becoming quite a large selection, which they seem to keep adding to for specific hair types. Which is great, we all have different kinds of hair and in different states of health. I would suggest that if you are considering straightening your hair then you should blow dry it after washing, this will make the straightening process much quicker and gives a better finish. In my experience GHD's are the best starightening irons on the market today. But you must use the right products to enhance the finish.
The irons become very hot, which is why they are so effective and can tackle the most unruly of hairs. As the irons work on such hot plates they have the ability to dry your hair out completely which is why it is so important to protect your hair before you put the irons onto the hair. I would suggest you condition/moisturise the hair well before straightening, or have a regular treatment put on the hair. Also using a heat protecting spray is a must, with the trendiest styles today being straight, can you imagine the damage that could be caused if the hair was straightened on a daily basis, with hair sometimes being straightened twice in a day. A good protecting spray can be purchased locally from a good chemist although I advise you invest in a product from your local hairdressing salon, it may seem expensive but will be worth it to keep you hair in tip top condition.
GHD straighteners are expensive or they may appear to be expensive, but well worth it. The speed they can cut through the toughest hair is amazing. They give the best finish I have ever witnessed, and are very durable. I have used other irons and have purchased other irons for my own personal use, but I go back to them every time. For that extra bit of money, and I know it may seem like a lot at the time, when competitors are undercutting GHD, but they will pay off in the end. Not only for the looks they produce but for the long life of the handsets. i have used these on the most unruliest of hairs and had the desired result.
GHD have had some bad press and I have known people to complain about the product, rumours of them breaking or handest melting. Resulting in the sets being sent back to manufacturer, this I have also heard is not too bad an experience, as the company have been known to replace handsets due to manufactures fault two years after being purchased. In my expereince of utilising these handsets in a busy salon when they were usually on all day they could not be beaten, they were brilliant.
Here are some examples of the handsets you can purhcase.
GHD mark 4 Straightener -
Switches itself off after 30 minutes of not being used, for those of us that are a little forgetful, like me.
They have rounded barrels making it easier for you curl.
Take them anywhere thanks to the universal round the globe voltage.
GHD salon styler -

GHD Mini Styler -

All round the GHD have to be the best buy, as I say they may seem expensive but shop around for them, I have seen them on a website auction for £80.00, the best I have seen yet.
