Hospital or Care Home Visits
Having your hair done whilst in hospital can prove to be a real difficulty. Some
illnesses do not allow for temporary discharge. If a relative is in hospital or care
home then possibly a visiting mobile hairdresser could be a solution to this problem.
Hospital Visits can keep a patient motivated and caring about their appearance. We
all like to pamper our relatives and treat them from time to time and especially
when they are feeling under the weather.
Sometimes a trip out to the hairdressers
can be a light relief from either the hospital or care home and can recharge the
client if they are still able to get about and socialise with other people in the
hairdressers. As I mentioned before this is not always possible due to nature of
the illness, or how frail our relatives actually are. But we would still like them
to be pampered, and that’s what having your hair done is all about. Feeling like
our image has been updated, or to just have our hair styled is a treat. Feeling pampered,
and like they can still take care of their appearance.
For those that aren’t able
to get out to a hairdressing salon, then the mobile hairdresser has to be the best
option. A visit from the hairdresser can be light relief for the client and also
the family. All styles and treatments that can be carried out in the salon can be
accomplished in a hospital setting or care home easily. There seems to be a lot of
technical machinery in a salon, but the effect can be achieved easily without the
gadgets.
For all the regular visitors to the hair salon, going into hospital and not
receiving their weekly dose of hair therapy can be quite upsetting. A mobile hairdresser
can solve this. So long as they have an agreement with either the hospital, or care
home and the client there should be no problem with completing haircuts and styles.
Sometimes
visiting mobile stylists will have a regular day at the hospital or home and will
be accommodating in the sense of taking into account some illnesses may have an effect
on the hair and will advise on best styles during this time and also effective treatments
to keep the hair in good condition.
The benefit of having a visiting hairdresser in
the care homes is that carers and nurses in these instances can assist them. Some
clients may require assistance to wash the hair, and to move the client around due
to poor mobility or being in pain. This will ensure on hand assistance is around
in case the client experiences pain or illness at any stage.
Having a treatment of
hairstyling will ensure a relative will feel pampered and leave the patient feeling
valued. A visit can be given as a present, or as a regular treat. The fact that our
relatives and even us at times enter hospital does not mean that we should not be
allowed or be able to access a simple treatment like a hair cut. Giving our ailing
relatives a real treat is special and something they may value. We want them to feel
cared about and looked after in every other way, and how better to pamper them than
give them a treatment, a personalised treatment without having to leave the care
of their ward, or even their living area.
Some treatments will require consultation
with the stylist due to treatments that may not be suitable due to their condition.
Close consultation with not only the stylist but also their consultant who is taking
care of their health.
